About Us & Affiliations

It all began with a small bookshelf in a small church with a growing parish. Some basic Orthodox books were placed on the shelf to nourish the thirst for spiritual knowledge in our community. Some sought prayer books to help with certain needs, others catechetical instruction; requests for more books and devotional items quickly increased, and the small bookshelf was soon joined by others.

Before long, the church was unable to house the growing congregation and a large cathedral was constructed nearby. The expansion facilitated a church bookstore in the lower hall of the new cathedral in 1994, capable of providing a variety of spiritual and devotional items to parishioners and visitors, according to the Orthodox tradition. Ever expanding and eager to provide, the church bookstore added an online platform in 2015 under the name Nevsky’s Books, to offer our services to the global Orthodox community.

We have come a long way since that first solitary bookshelf, but our objective has remained consistently steadfast; to serve God by fulfilling the spiritual and devotional needs of Orthodox Christians. Thank you for being a part of our spiritual efforts and for your crucial support!

LOCATION

Nevsky’s Books is located in St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Howell, NJ, a parish of the Eastern American Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia. 

We are located in the lower hall of St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral at the intersection of U.S. Route 9 and Alexander Avenue in Howell, NJ (200 Alexander Ave.). Parking for the store is available in the lot adjacent to the cathedral (with gold domes). You will see an entrance sign on the side of the building pointing toward a staircase that leads into the lower hall of the cathedral.
